چکیده

Soft cyclo-synchrotron photons produced by thermal electrons moving in a magnetic eld can be subsequently Comptonized to produce hard X-ray and -ray emission. An accurate determination of the amount of soft cyclo-synchrotron photons produced from such plasmas is clearly necessary. We present the complete solution to the cyclo-synchrotron problem. We calculate the emission produced by an isotropic distribution of thermal electrons moving in a magnetic eld, for temperatures ranging from 5 10 8 K to 3:2 10 10 K. The applicability of the standard synchrotron formula is evaluated, and we provide convenient tting functions for the emission spectra within this range of temperatures. We discuss how the Comptonized spectra, for various temperatures and optical depths, are a ected by the new results.

Luminous hot accretion flows: the origin of X-ray emission of Seyfert galaxies and black-hole binaries

We investigate accretion disc models for the X-ray emission of Seyfert-1 galaxies and the hard state of black-hole binaries. We concentrate on two hot accretion disc models: advection-dominated accretion flow (ADAF) and recently found luminous hot accretion flow (LHAF). We solve for the global solution of both ADAF and LHAF to obtain the electron temperature, Te, and Thompson optical depth, τ ,...

Advection-Dominated Accretion: Underfed Black Holes and Neutron Stars

We describe new optically thin solutions for rotating accretion flows around black holes and neutron stars. These solutions are advection-dominated, so that most of the viscously dissipated energy is advected radially with the flow. We model the accreting gas as a twotemperature plasma and include cooling by bremsstrahlung, synchrotron, and Comptonization. We obtain electron temperatures Te ∼ 1...

X-ray Emissions from Three-dimensional Magnetohydrodynamic Coronal Accretion Flows

We calculate the radiation spectrum and its time variability of the black hole accretion disk-corona system based on the three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulation. In explaining the spectral properties of active galactic nuclei (AGNs), it is often assumed that they consist of a geometrically thin, optically thick disk and hot, optically thin corona surrounding the thin disk. As for a mod...

Low-Luminosity Accretion in Black Hole X-ray Binaries and Active Galactic Nuclei

At luminosities below a few percent of Eddington, accreting black holes switch to a hard spectral state which is very different from the soft blackbody-like spectral state that is found at higher luminosities. The hard state is well-described by a two-temperature, optically thin, geometrically thick, advection-dominated accretion flow (ADAF) in which the ions are extremely hot (up to 10 K near ...

Signatures of Energetic Protons in Hot Accretion Flows: Synchrotron Cooling of Protons in Strongly Magnetized Pulsars

The existence of hot, two-temperature accretion flows is essential to the recent discussions of the low luminosity, hard X-ray emission from accreting neutron stars and black holes in Galactic binaries and massive black holes in low luminosity galactic nuclei. In these flows, protons are essentially virialized and relativistic energies for non-thermal protons are likely. Observational confirmat...
